How the Past Affects the Future: "Encounter at Dawn” and “The Sound of Thunder" Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Have you ever stopped to observe the atmosphere around you? Better yet, have you ever wondered what the present day would be like without the past? What differences would make up our world if certain historical events, good and bad, simply never took place. The fact of the matter is that if every individual action or event were to be altered in any way the world we know and love would not exist. There are certain events in the past that affect the future. Whether or not it is noticeable, the future has been affected in different ways and amounts by every occurrence in the past. Certain events are of course much more noticeable then others. To separate these groups, you could use words such as “direct” and “in-direct”. Direct events are ones in which the consequences are great and the most substantial amount of pain has been shortly after; therefore, the loss is so great that it greatly affects our world years after it takes place. Specific “direct” events could be wars, natural disasters, or deadly epidemics. On the other hand, an “in-direct” is best compared to a chain r......
