George Rodrigues Uncle Earl
Art comes in many shapes, forms, and styles but one artist that stands alone is George Rodrigue. His many works of art are on display in the Blue Dog exhibit at the Dixon Museum. After visiting the exhibit I concluded that Mr. Rodrigue is a very talented artist. His work transcends many time periods and covers a wide array of topics. My personal favorites are the paintings of his experience in the Louisiana bayou. I choose to over the painting Uncle Earl which Mr. Rodrigue, completed in 1989.
Georges work on this particular painting would be in a representational style. He wanted the viewer to see an old man with a silly grin on his face standing in front of a tree. No particular time period is referenced in this work, but if I had to make an educated guess, I would say due to the older model microphone and style of clothing worn it would be in the early 1950s.
