Tobacco industries funded anti- smoking ads that were suppose to be aimed at discouraging teen smoking and actually caused teens to smoke more, according to a news report by Australian Researchers. Isn’t that a new spin on things? The writers of these articles express and prove that big tobacco companies are aiming at teens by stating facts. You would think the knowledge of what big tobacco is doing would be enough to stop the madness. ( ) Phillip Morris’ “Talk they’ll listen” campaign was brought about, to prove that the company’s aim was to render teen smoking and NOT to get kids addicted. “Surprisingly” the campaign did just the opposite. It was designed to get parents to talk to their children about teen smoking, but that was the only point it served. This only caused teen smoking to increase. The message failed because it didn’t explain why teens shouldn’t smoke and the negative side effect smoking has, so in the long run the message had no purpose.
