We live in a very divided and aggravated world. Peoples of all religions, ethnicities, and race hardly ever see eye to eye. History textbooks, literature, and the evening news rarely have a happy story to tell. Of all the worlds troubles, Oxfams Globalisation states, the widening gap between the developed and the developing countries has become the central problem of our time (Oxfam 113). Today, humanity cannot continue to allow this to happen. Two individuals have stood up and proclaimed their theories as to why the bridge between the rich and poor continues to increase. In his Nobel Peace Price Lecture, Kofi Annan illustrates the loss of human concern for one another has created this problem. Furthermore, Robert Reich states his view in Why the Rich Are Getting Richer and the Poor, Poorer advancements in technology are to blame for the separation of these two groups. The gap between the rich and poor is created by the little compassion humans have for one another and technological basis of the world market.
