Decency English 1102 Decency The film's title is Tsotsi slang for "thug" It is also the nickname for the main character who is played by Presley Chweneyagae. In the first few minutes of the film we see Tsotsi participate in the barbarous mugging and killing of a harmless man. Just moments after that in a violent rage he viciously attacks one of his followers (Boston) that told him he lacked decency. It was at that point that highlighted the approaching journey for Tsotsi and his friends. Not to long after his fight he engages in a car jacking, shoots the driver, and races off unknowingly with her baby in the back seat. According to the film decency can be redeemed in anyone no matter what type of background he is from. This ides becomes evident as we follow Tsotsi and the gang throughout the film. Each character begins to show more decency as they become less impervious and more vulnerable. Many people seem to misinterpret the word decency.
