Postmodernism and Pastic Surgery Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Postmodernism began around 1939 and is still present to this day (Beers and Odell 792). It was the next movement after Modernism. They share some similarities, such as that they both accept that there are no guidelines or rules for life, and they were both very open in their writing. Some of the authors during this time consisted of the following: Richard Wright, who wrote his brutal novel Native Son in 1940 ( Beers and Odell 792); Maya Angelou, who wrote her autobiography I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, in 1970; and Alice Walker, who wrote her novel The Color Purple, in 1982 (Beers and Odell 793). The writing style was very open compared to the other movements, Postmodernism was open to any type of writing, so there are many different styles of writing. The typical genres of this movement were poetry, humor, horror, and fantasy (Beers and Odell 795). All their writings were created from their source of truth, which was individual thoughts (Man In The Mirror ).
