Beliefs and values in The Time Machine by H.G. Wells Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The Time Machine is a futuristic novel written by the end of the second half of the XIX century by H.G Wells. In this novel several social topics are implied with a futuristic touch. The main theme in which focus will be taken is social order change and its ability of deforming beliefs and values in characters through time. Theme and characters are important for this novel, because as they change through the plot, beliefs and values also change affecting the message of the novel. Distortion in the belief of natural selection and the value of equality, marked in the transition from present to future; represent the anguish of characters in the storyline’s present time of a society’s change in the future according to their conception of communism. A general overview of the context in the novel will be given. Furthermore this knowledge will be used to analyze first, the overall theme of the novel, second its implications in characters, third implications in plot, and finally how all these elements compose the message of the novel.
