One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest by Ken Kesey Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The novel written by Ken Kesey is a picture of the age it was written. It is a prime example of how society was in the 1960’s and in looking into 2007 society of today, we see that some messages the novel tells us are still evident in 2007 society. We can learn from these messages from the 1960’s novel and incorporate them into today’s society as we still suffer from these problems. Kesey took the actions that were prominent in the 1960 society such as LSD drug taking and other addictions and used it to portray an accurate view of the society in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. In the 1960’s novel written by Key Kesey, he suggests that he would “Rather be a lightening rod then a seismograph”, He was both. His novel was a strong social satire and provided a catalyst for change, during the time of drug and social experimenting and the abusive treatment of mental patients inside America’s mental hospitals. In these hospitals lethal operations like lobotomies and other mental torture of the patients were all portrayed in the novel as they were in the real life. Kesey create......
