Tesha Pittman University of Phoenix PHL/215 Philosophy: Methods and Application Leon Hallingquest November 14, 2007 The objective of philosophy is to consider the rational justification of logical inferences, human values, criteria for establishing the claims of knowledge and certainly, and interpretations of the nature of reality. The diverse insights of significant philosophers from ancient times to the present contribute resources to stimulate contemporary philosophical thinking in each of these areas. In this paper I will thoroughly extrapolate upon many of the ideas and thoughts of philosophy and discuss the meaning of the term philosophy. As I previously stated the objective of philosophy has been to bring rational thinking into our quest for knowledge. There are many interpretations as to what the term philosophy means. This has not deterred many from defining its meaning. In my opinion philosophy is a quest for a comprehensive understanding of human existence. Philosophy is quite unlike any other field.
