¡§My family and other Animals¡¨ by Gerald Durrell, is an auto- biography about the other¡¦s life when he was ten. The Durrell family can no longer endure the damp grey English weather, so they sell their house and move to a Greek island called Corfu, and the start of the saga. He tells the story of his family and pets, and his life during the five years on the island. The book is divided into three sections, marking the three villas in which the family lived on the island. Throughout the book, Gerald (the youngest), Larry, the widowed mother, the gun-mad Leslie, the diet-obsessed sister Margo, and Roger, their old dog, go through stories that you couldn¡¦t even imagine yourself. The family is fiercely protected by their very own driver, Spiro, and mentored by the polymath, Dr. Theodore Stephanides who provides information on natural history.
