To what extent was Hitler responsible for causing WW2?
Hitler was responsible for causing WW2 to a large extent. The four main causes for the second world was were the treaty of Versailles, the league of nations, the Nazi-soviet pact and Hitlers aggressive foreign policy. The main people to blame for the causes of the second world war were Chamberlain, Stalin and Hitler.
Hitlers expansionist foreign policy was the basic factor which signifies how he was responsible war. He wanted to abolish the treaty of Versailles in order to build up Germanys armed forces and set about restoring its pride. The German people resented this treaty. Hitler even referred to the German leaders who had signed it as the November criminals. His second ambition was to create a Greater Germany whereby all Germans are brought together. This involves regaining the Saar, polish corridor, reunion with Austria and other territories taken away from German land as a result of the treaty of Versailles.
