During the 17th 18th and 19th centuries the |Hudson's Bay Company has been involved with trapping, trading, exploration, creating forts and capturing forts. But what the Hudson's Bay company should be characterized by is laying the building blocks of not only 4 of Canada's western cities but the country itself. What the Hudson's Bay Company was able to do over the 3 centuries of there existence was extraordinary. They were able to map out almost all of Canada from the north pole down to California. From the Atlantic Ocean with pressure from another company to push west toward the Pacific Ocean and the later amalgamation that would make them the largest land owner in the world. The company would in run western Canada for half a century and help create a national identity.
