Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

In 1888 Robert Louis Stevenson wrote a novel that took book writing to a whole new level. This book was called Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde. The book has very dark settings and frequent references to death, showing that this is a horror story. I will talk about this later on with in my essay, as well as the setting, the characters and mainly whether or not Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde is a horror a story or a morality tale. Firstly I will talk about the villain, Mr Hyde. Mr Hyde is not described fully within the book and what a lot of Mr Hyde’s appearance is left to the reader’s imagination. ‘Mr Hyde was pale and dwarfish he gave an impression of deformity without and nameable malformations, he had a displeasing smile’. This is the only description of Mr Hyde within the book, which shows that a lot of the appearance of Mr Hyde is left to the readers imagination. The effect of this is to make the book more interesting by the reader having the villain look like what they want not how the author, Robert Louis Stevenson, imagines him which make the book feel more personalized to the reader and ......
