Governments Corrupting Society According to Webster the definition of government is a body of people that has the power to make and the authority to enforce rules and laws within a civil, corporate, religious, and/or academic group. Governments have existed since this beginning of time and have held a common goal to maintain order and govern the people. However, once it was established it immediately created a hierarchy system of classes, which ended up dividing society. The Films Cidade de Deus and Romero, are distinct representations of government that is has created a pecking order and a disorderly society. Cidade de Deus, directed by Fernando Meirelles is a story of an area of Brazil where poor citizens were relocated by the Brazilian Government. The film Romero directed by, John Duigan, takes place in El Salvador as members of the church attempt to stop terrorist attacks and a corrupt society. In the films Romero and Cidade de Deus, the overall corrupt nature of the government and law enforcement ruins society and ultimately results in the deaths of many people. Why are ......
