Banned Books in American Public High Schools
In America, most banned books are considered to be racist, powerful, or dangerous. That is why most school districts report them to the school board and ban them because they might seem to be too inappropriate to be read in public schools. I believe that not all powerful books should be banned, especially from high school. The reason to that is that I believe that the in the higher grade that we are in, the more mature we are. (For the most part) Books like that should be considered banned from middle schools, but high school, it should be a very different topic.
An example of a banned book is called Sylvester and the Magic Pebble by William Steig, the reason it was banned was that the characters in the books were featured as animals and the police as pigs. Books like this should be banned from middle schools, but once we get to high school we have already experienced the criticism people make regarding the police or any other kind of customs official.
