Once a very uncommon animal, iguanas are now starting to become even more popular with every decade. The green iguana is a very colorful and somewhat intelligent species. They can be trained to walk on a leash and would prefer to just lounge around all day with their owners. They are one of the largest and most common lizards that is owned and kept as companion animals. Although most people think that throwing some lettuce in the cage everyday will satisfy their lizard, itÂ’s actually very harmful to them. Iguanas are considered a very difficult animal to keep because of their diet requirements. The common name for this species is the green iguana. The green iguana is native to South American countries in rainforests where the temperatures and humidity are high. Iguanas live in the trees and bask in the sun. There is not that much information on the origin of the green iguana because the origin is still unknown. The scientific classification that the iguana falls under is Kingdom Anamalia, Phylum Chordata, Class Sauropsida, Order Squamata, Suborder Sauria, and Family Iguanide. ......
