Security Issues of TCPIP and 802.11i Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The objective of this term paper is to evaluate the security issues of the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/Internet protocol (IP) and 802.11i. This paper deals with possible security problems faced by the user and what are some of the safety measures and steps required for a secure TCP/IP and 802.11i communication. IEEE formally ratified the 802.11i security standard in June 2004. One year earlier, parts of this standard had already been made available to the public by the Wi-Fi Alliance under the label Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA). The objective of the Wi-Fi alliance in doing so was to provide users with the portions of the 802.11i standard which were stable and ready to be brought to market while the 802.11i Task Group continued to hammer out the remaining details. This allowed users an immediate solution that was vendor neutral and forward compatible with the final 802.11i standard. When 802.11i was fully ratified, it was released as WPA2.
