The play ‘Waiting for Godot’ by Samuel Beckett is an expression of what Beckett saw the world and the people, in the 1950’s after World War Two, to be. ‘Waiting for Godot’ captures the feelings and views of the world; that human life is an unanswerable question. Existence seems to be something imposed upon us by unknown forces; influencing what we do and whom we interact with. To distract ourselves from the utterly hopeless situation, we fabricate purpose to try and impose meaning to life. In the play time is meaningless, life is entirely dependent on chance and extension of waiting; therefore driving humans to rely on outside forces committing them to interactions with each other, which may or may be real. These ideas are what Beckett created in his play to address subconsciously the historical, cultural, social and political issues of the time, showing that interactions are not ultimately meaningless. The interactions in an Absurdist play show the plays meaning to a greater extent and the relationships between the characters, the dialogue is usually senseless and irreleva......
