X-Men: The Last Film? On May 25th 2006, the UK saw the release of one of the most anticipated sequels ever. The final instalment of a trilogy from an amazing multi-million pound international franchise. Finally. X-Men: The Last Stand. From the beginning the film is gripping and immediately captured the audiences attention. The young mutant Warren Worthington III, AKA Angel, is alone mutilating his figure. This shocking scene is followed closely by the opening credits which break the tension and suspense with an altogether impressive anticlimax. Showing that even with a new director, Brett Ratner, The Last Stand was destined to finish with impact. Having never previously been the director of a comic book movie and having never been a fan of the original comic series, many questioned Brett Ratners ability to continue the trilogy. There were further doubts due to the reality that he was not the first, or even the second choice to direct the film.
