When studying economics one is naturally drawn to comparing what is being learned to real-world situations and companies. A good subject to study when figuring out the application of what learned in economics is the competition of the Boeing airplane manufacturing company to the Airbus airplane manufacturing company. Recently both companies have released new jumbo jets, for Boeing it is the 787 Dreamliner for Airbus it is the A380. Also, consider the new airbus A350, a medium capacity airplane due to be released in 2013, and how this airplanes role will be in the competition between airplane manufactures. First, the 787 Dreamliner is more directed toward economy and versatility in being able to travel to any airport, while the A380 is a luxury liner designed more as a jumbo jet like the 747s and is for long distance and big airports, these are two very different designs.
