It is hard to say exactly where I acquired my political views. I was brought up in a very open home so the opinions that I have acquired as far as how I view people I pretty much learned on my own. Even as a child I understood that it was very important to be open minded. I come from an upper middle class family so I guess you could say I had the best of both worlds. My mother is a college graduate who does business administration and my father is a Chief Warrant Officer in the United States Navy where he has worked for 23 years. When I was younger we moved around a lot and as a result I was exposed to many different things. Since the 1890s, the Democratic Party has favored "liberal" positions, so I guess my family would be classifed as Democrats. The party has favored farmers, laborers, labor unions, and religious and ethnic minorities; it has opposed unregulated business and finance, and also favored progressive income taxes.
