Many people have their own definition for a main character based on the qualities that they believe make a character the main character of the story. According to Merriam WebsterÂ’s Dictionary a main character is a character that has the most serious problem in the story. Adding to the definition, a main character is one who changes as the story progresses and has the entire center of attention on him/her. Based on this definition, the main character in the movie titled Swingers is Mike because his friends, Trent being one of them, are trying to help him get over his ex-girlfriend throughout the whole movie, causing the attention to revolve around him, and he also evolves from an anxious and insecure person to a very confident character, while Trent is still the same person he was at the beginning of the film.
To begin, throughout the whole story, all of the attention is on Mike because the purpose of the story is to help him get over his ex-girlfriend. Meanwhile, Trent is trying to help Mike forget his ex-girlfriend, thus giving him all of his attention. In other words......
