Introduction
Currently there is much research in the affect of blue light on plant growth. It has been shown to increase growth in some plants and decrease growth in others.1
Materials and Methods
Firstly, an experimental plate (four well Petri dish) was obtained. The plate was then cleaned to insure no contamination that could not be accounted for. Eight milliliters of agar and 7.0 water mixture was added to the bottom of each well. Three radish seeds were added equally spaced to each well (so twelve seeds in total). The experimental plate was then sealed and two sections were covered with blue transparent paper. Finally the plate was put in direct sunlight and results were taken over the next week.
Results
To begin with, the object of the experiment was to predict germination. Due to experimental constraints it was impossible to view the radish seeds at all times and thus it was assumed that the rate of growth of a plant is the same as the rate of germination.
