The Portrayals of Black people Blacks are often stereotyped from images seen on television. Even though there are some positive portrayals of Blacks in films acting as lawyers, doctors, and businessmen, we are still stereotyped from the negative portrayals. The media tends to look forward to seeing Blacks act violent and disrespectful. Unfortunately, some Blacks are sell outs and will do anything to make big bucks not realizing how long and hard it took Blacks to get away from those stereotypes. The portrayal of Black people on television is more exaggerated than the real life of Black people. On several television shows, Blacks are portrayed as being ignorant and lazy. On the TV show, “The Parkers,” the main character Nikki and her daughter Kim are portrayed as being ignorant. Instead of Nikki furthering her education, she chases around Professor Overly who has no interest in her. She embarrasses herself by making loud outburst about how much she is in love with him to receive his attention, and he ignores her. Kim acts as if she is dense, and unintelligent to c......
