Glenlyon Foods plc is a medium-sized food manufacturer based in a small town in Scotland. It was founded 25 years ago. The company produces a range of high quality chilled foods, and sells its products mainly through independent specialist retail outlets in Scotland and the North of England. It has recently started to sell its products in Europe.
There are over 130 employees, grouped into production teams. During the last year, Glenlyon Foods has encountered a number of new problems as the sector has become more competitive. On at least two occasions, the company has failed to meet orders to key customers and has also had to deal with delays in deliveries from suppliers. The new European venture has also faced delays as the Marketing Department adjusts to the different conditions of retailing in Europe.
