There are many ideas about sexuality in ancient Greece. In the 20th Century historians tried to ignore the evidence of ancient sexuality that made them uncomfortable, like homosexuality, lesbianism, and bisexuality. Ancient Greece was a sexually charged country with a very tolerant view towards sex and sexuality. This was seen in the Olympics- which was done in the nude- to the art- sculptures, and paintings were mostly if not all of the people were naked and the penis and breasts were in great detail.(see appendix 1-8) The Greeks without knowing gave homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality and sexuality in general a voice. The ancient Greeks were thousands of years ahead of their time. Only in the 20th Century are was as comfortable as the Greeks were 4,000 years ago with sex and sexuality.
The ancient Greeks did not ridicule homosexuality. Greeks were ready to respond to favourably to the open expression of homosexual desire whether in words and behavior, or in literature and the visual arts. To them there were many reasons for homosexuality Aristotle stated the Creta......
