Historically, in many patriarchal communities, women had been and were long considered as the weaker sex. However, women are not the only sex subjected to such sexual discrimination. According to ancient Greek history, the female warriors from the Amazon regard men as mere objects to satisfy their sexual desires and to sire daughters. If any woman gave birth to a son, the infant would be sent to be exposed to the harsh environment and die. Fortunately, the modern-day American society is more aware of the revolting side of sexual discrimination and the significance of gender equality compared to those days. Womens status in the American community has significantly improved, as can be observed from their right to vote, to education, to work and to own property. However, I strongly believe that despite the attempts to eradicate sexism, men and women still do not have equal status in present-day United States.
