Character Analysis of Phoenix Jackson In Eudora Welty’s “A Worn Path”, Phoenix Jackson is on a very important trip. Her grandson swallowed lye a few years back and in order to breathe he has to take some special medicine. Phoenix is on her way to town to get some more medicine on for him. She is on a path that she is very familiar with but she must overcome many obstacles through out the story in order to get there. Phoenix Jackson is a very loving grandmother. Phoenix Jackson is very determined to get her grandson the help that he needs. She takes this journey into the city during the winter time and there is frost all over the mountain. It is very difficult for her to walk across the mountains but she does it anyway to get the medicine. She meets many obstacles along the journey and it would have been very easy for her to give up at any point and go home but she never did. She overcame the obstacles one by one until she finally made it. One obstacle that Phoenix endures is falling into the ditch. A hunter comes along and helps her up. He asks her how old she is and she......
