Wes Craven's Scream (1996) and John Carpenters Halloween (1978) are both very important films that helped to make huge advances in the horror genre. They are both important films in their own right. Both films are from two different decades, yet both have simmilar characteristics. With regard to Scream it derives inspiration from Halloween, in the sense that it coheres to the stereotypes of the genre yet also adds deviation.
It is likely that todays audience have low tollerance to the tile sequence of Halloween as it drags along very slowly which makes the audience impatient. The audience instantly associate the Jack o' Lantern graphic on the title screen with the movies title. The credits change colour from red to orange to red which give the audience an indication that there will be blood in the film and again the orange relates to Halloween. The theme music is played throughout the title sequence as the camera slowly zooms in on the pumpkin. Scream on the other hand, has a very short title sequence and very quickly cuts to the chase about the movie, which the audience immediate......
