Marijuana as a medicine has been studied for many years. In some cultures, it is already used as medicine, and it stems back from many years. There are many good uses for marijuana to be used as medicine which will be discussed in the following paragraphs. In order for marijuana to be used medically in America, it must first be legalized for medical use.
Marijuana has a long history of medical use. It is one of the oldest psychoactive plants known to man and, in ancient times, was used as various forms of medicine through ingestion. The first recorded use of marijuana as medicine as Chinese Pharmacopoeia was by a man named Shen-nung Pen Tsao Ching around 2727 B.C even though even though it was never recorded until 1065 B.C. It has been reported that ma-fee-san (boiled hemp compound) was used as an anesthetic for surgical patients. Ma fen (the fruit of hemp) had many uses such as clearing blood and cooling temperature, relieving excessive bodily discharge, relieving stiffness in joints or muscles, and discharging pus for patients (Bloomquist).
