Martin Luther King Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The great Doctor Martin Luther King is well remembered for his contributions and accomplishments in the civil rights movement. He fought proactively to a very difficult white dominated audience in the mid 1950s-late 1960’s to share and be heard about the importance and equality that all humans deserve regardless of skin color. I would like to compare and contrast the likeness and differences between two very powerful and moving pieces written my Martin Luther King. The “I have a Dream” speech which he delivered on the steps at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. in 1963 will be analyzed as will his lengthy letter titled “Letter from Birmingham Jail” which was written while he was confined in the Birmingham city jail. This letter was King’s response to a published statement by clergymen from Alabama in regards to public protests for civil rights and against segregation. Throughout these pieces he uses several literary writing techniques to make his writing effective and captivating. Today one can only try to imagine the emotion and diction that went into every letter......
