In the beginning of the movie Fly Away Home, Amy Alden, 13 year old girl, is in a car with her mother and gets in an accident. The accident kills her mother. Her father, Thomas Alden, comes to New Zealand and brings her back to Canada following the accident. Amy still hasn't got over the death of her mother and isn't quite comfortable her father and her new environment. One of the reasons is because they haven't communicated or seen each other since Amy was three years old. In the movie Amy's dad, Thomas is a naturalist and inventor that lives on a farm with his girlfriend Susan.
One day on her dad's farm, Amy finds a bunch of eggs that were abandoned by geese because of construction going on in the area. She brings back the eggs and keeps inside the barn. Next thing she knows is they hatch and because the goslings see Amy first, she becomes imprinted as their mom and follow her everywhere she goes.
The conflict begins when the warden has to fulfill his duties by trying to pinion the wings of the geese. So as the geese grow up, Amy and her father begin to think the only way to keep......
