Why did America withdraw from Vietnam? There were many factors that are involved in the withdrawal of the US forces from Vietnam in 1973 and in my opinion there were some more significant than others. The war was losing support of the American people, causing significant unrest in ‘the land of the free’, was perhaps the most overwhelming factor leading to American withdrawal. The American people lost faith in the war as it was costing them money through inflation and taxes. On a human level, media coverage revealed some of the worlds most distressing images ever broadcasted back to the American people showing them what their army had been doing to innocent civilians causing many protests to break out from coast to coast. The power of the people and the strength of protesters gained more and more support making the war increasingly unpopular. The nature of the warfare was very off putting as were the disgusting conditions that the soldiers had to live in. The soldiers returned home with tales of horror and perhaps most profound were the numbers that accompanied them, over 50......
