INTRODUCTION
Purpose of the study
In this case, we are going to look at marketing activities which are practiced at Ubungo make-shift market. The make-shift market referred to in this case, has been taken as an example to demonstrate how marketing concept is practically interpreted in the informal sector. The study in the first place gives an overview of the market place and thereafter a detailed discussion of the marketing environment, the traditional four Ps as well as the challenges they face.
In our concluding remarks, we highlight some of the steps to be undertaken by the relevant bodies, mainly the government, to smoothen operations in this sector. We know that efforts are already being taken by the government towards this end; MKURABITA, BEST which have emanated from Prof. De Sotos recommendations and others are some of these initiatives to harmonise vendors hawkers businesses in this country and therefore, our recommendations will serve to add up to these efforts.
