The Federal Reserves recent decrease of the Federal Funds rate has made a huge impact in both the United States and global markets. The increase made on September 18th has influenced the market sufficiently since it was implemented and is currently affecting the economy. There has been much discussion about the effects of the increase and whether or not it is beneficial to the American economy. Also, international markets are subsequently forced to deal with the rate increase because of the US dollars inflation and could eventually cause other countries to make changes of their own.
The Federal Funds rate was cut by 50 basis points, which is equal to a half percentage point, lowering it to 4.25%. It also lowered the discount rate by the same amount. This immediately caused a surge in US markets with the Dow rising 335.97 or 2.51 percent, which is its highest rise in one session since October 15, 2002. Other markets also performed exceptionally well with the Standard & Poors 500 index rising 43.13 or 2.92 percent and the NASDAQ gaining 70.00 or 2.71 percent. Small-cap stocks ......
