Psychologists have given their lives to understand language and how it affects thought and more importantly actions. This study, called psycholinguistics, has real world impacts such as the extremity of racism and even how we perceive the strong and the weak. Priming, a similar concept, is when one word correlates with another. This technique is used as the indicator for which meanings of a word are activated during the processing of words in discourse. For example the word bat could refer to the animal or the piece of wood with which a baseball is hit. The interpretation of this word depends on the context it is used in.
