Robert H. Bishop, the author of the book Mechatronics: An Introduction, is the Professor in Engineering, distinguished teaching Professor in the college of Engineering and in the Centre for Space Research at The University of Texas at Austin, Texas, USA.

Dr. Bishop enquires guidance, navigation and control of aerospace vehicles. He is an expert in the area of planetary exploration with significance on spacecraft guidance, navigation and control. Bishop is actually working with NASA Johnson Space Center and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory on techniques for accomplishing accuracy landing on Mars.
