The identified artwork is called the ¡°Healing Buddha¡±, but the author and the date made are unknown. Overall the painting is symmetrical and the scale between the main character and other objects are very distinctive: the Buddha is very large compared to everything else, thus draws the viewers¡¯ attention right away. The artist used shades of red and blue in most part of the painting which gives the viewer both warm and cool feelings. The painting is very smooth and subtle in color which allows me to think that the artist used a form of water color painting. It is also evident that the artist used different shades of colors to set the boundaries between objects and to add texture to the painting.
The Buddha in the painting is very large while everything around it seems small because it did not attract my eyes right away. The focal point is obviously behind the Buddha but the emphasis is on the Buddha. This is shown by repetitions and openness around the Buddha while Buddha himself has asymmetric and very complicated features.
