Baba says this because he is worried that Amir never stands up for anything or against anyone, when he is playing in the streets with the neighbourhood boys. He is also worried because Hassan is very rebellion and stands up for Amir when required, when compared to Amir, who relies on Hassan, Baba and Rahim Khan.
