In this essay I plan to explain Moses Maimonides argument that the world is not infinitely old. I will present his argument in standard form, show my objection to premise three, give a response to my objection, and determine if his argument is sound or not. Maimonides believes the world is not infinitely old. At this instance I think it is important to define what the term infinitely old means. Something that has been around forever and will continue to be around is said to be infinitely old. So, if the world is infinitely old, then its age cannot be measured. If the world is not infinitely old, then its age can be measured in some finite number of years. Maimonides says that God could not have started creation. At this point I think it is essential to define what the term creation means. To make or invent something with or without materials so that you have a new thing is creation.
