Mickey Mouse Monopoly The Walt Disney Company, which is one of the largest media corporations in the world, is an influential force on childhood culture all over the world. Disney, as the second biggest media corporation in the world, owns TV and radio networks, Internet sites, music studios, theatres, cruise line, Cable Company and theme parks in both national and international markets. Disney’s success is based on images of magic and fun. It is perceived by people as mere entertainment. Many generations have been raised by the Disney’s stories. However, there is an obscure misrepresentation problem in Disney movies. Before watching the documentary “Mickey Mouse Monopoly” I had never realized and criticized the important messages that Disney stories give to children. This brings up the question: what kinds of stories are being told? Are these “the stories” that parents want their children to observe at a young age?
