Integration into our school systems was a very necessary step into achieving not only academic equality, but it was also another step into the right direction. It allowed for us to begin stepping closer to the day that we believe that ignorantly categorizing another human being as undesirable and treating them accordingly is a violation of logical morality and that any ignorant belief that places a human being into a subordinate position based on these categories, these beliefs would be rightfully recognized as falsehoods. This step brought us closer to walking the path of treating, as a country, minorities in a more ethical way. This rightful step brought forth an opportunity for change, yet it is not the final solution to the problems that are faced by minorities in inner-city schools and elsewhere. The problem that perpetuates the learning gap has lain in a whisper, deep in the conditions that indwell inner cities, and has done so for a very long time. Minorities in some inner cities are threatened by conditions that any fair and perceptive person would understand as hopeles......
