Painters of the American Revolution Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

When you are painting you should take a flat mirror and often look at your work within it, and it will then be seen in reverse, and will appear to be by the hand of some other master, and you will be better able to judge of its faults than in any other way. 1 The painters of the American Revolution had a significant effect on our views of the revolution today. The American Revolutionary War began in 1776 when the American colonies declared independence from England. One of the most well-known Revolutionary War painters was John Trumbull. Trumbull was born on June 6, 1756, in Lebanon, Connecticut . His father was governor of Connecticut from 1769 to 1784. Trumbull entered the Junior class at Harvard University in 1771, at the age of 15. He graduated in 1773. During the Revolutionary, Trumbull did his part as a soldier. His job was to sketch plans of the British works. He also witnessed the Battle of Bunker Hill. Trumbull was appointed second aide-de-camp to General George Washington, then made deputy adjustment general to Horatio Gales In June 1776. Trumbull resigned ......
