Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Darcy, perhaps in the history of British literature is one of the most charming heroes. It is said there once was an investigation on which literary hero the British women will most willingly marry, the answer is Darcy. I am not sure if this investigation is ever true, but the fact is that, partly because of Jane Austen’s inadequate skills of drawing a hero, and partly because of the personality of the man such as Darcy, the reasons make the character appear not only physically handsome but also mysterious and charming. Jane Austen left large space on understanding this hero but it gives advantage on modern films which explain and express different Darcy by the different aesthetic standards in different period. However, no matter if it is a sweet and flattering Darcy, handsome and cold Darcy, strong and sexy Darcy or tender and pathetic Darcy, as long as it is Darcy, it shall attract a large number of crazy fans to dream, to cry and to argue.
