Introduction
In this paper the article that I chose to speak about was the retail price of gasoline in California, how it has changed and the reasons why. As you read further, my synopsis of the article will uncover several reasons why gas prices have fluctuated over the years and how it has affected the public in other states as well as in California.
In 2002 gasoline prices were relatively stable but then throughout the United States gas prices began to rise. The national average retail price for regular gas rose 36.8 cents per gallon between December9, 2002, and March 17, 2003, meanwhile reaching an all-time high of $2.45 per gallon. Since peaking in March 2003, as of the latest data that was available for this particular article, which was dated April 28, 2003, U.S. and California retail regular gasoline prices had fallen by 17.1 and 16.8 cents per gallon, respectively.
