When a gay couple decides to go to a catholic church and ask to be married, the church sends them away and humiliates them in the progress. Why did the church turn them away? A major discrimination against gay couples around the world. Many sources, such as state laws, governing officials, and the Christian/Catholic churches have had a profound effect on the idea of same sex marriage. In order to understand this dispute, however, one must understand its background.
When looking at state laws, many states have had different ideas on how to go about same sex marriage. Only one state, Massachusetts, has legal allowed same sex marriage. A few states such as Vermont, New Hampshire, and New Jersey have created civil unions while California and Oregon have Domestic Partnerships, similar to the Civil Unions.
