In The Great Gatsby represents a moral failure in the society of 1920's that lived in United States of America, this moral failure is originated in the pursuit of the "American Dream" by the society and but it got corrupted with avarice for materialism until it become a something else, and the society developed with the wrong idea of the "American Dream". Jay Gatsby: He is a young man around thirty years old, who from poverty became a wealthy man. From his early youth, he despised poverty and had a great ambition for wealth and sophistication. He dropped out St. Olaf's College after two weeks because he could not bear the janitor job with which he was paying his tuition. Though Gatsby always wanted to be wealthy, but his main motivation in acquiring his fortune was Daisy Fay, whom he met as a young military officer in Louisville before leaving to World War I.
