My responce to the essay America in the book Keywords/identity Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
After reading the book Keywords/identity this is a book of several different essay by affluent writers all over the world giving us their idea of multiculralizm and identity in the world today. After I read the second essay I felt compelled to write my own in response to the one titled America. At first I didn't agree with the authors point of view then I read it a second time with a more open mind.
The first point I would like to stress is why did he pick Tiger woods as an example on this subject, while he is a prominent figure is society today he is just a glorified sports figure. He receives enough publicity from so many other people I thought he was a poor choice. To me tiger took advantage of his present in the media to make it known to all that he is not an African American. Who really cares if he couldn't swing a golf club would it have made a difference to anyone, no I don't think so. In fact he more resembles the author Emmanuel Renault, and his essay called Europe in the book Keywords/identity pg 111.
