Edgar Allan Poe and The Masque of Red Death: A Critical Analysis Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The complex life of Edgar Allan Poe contained dark and depressing events that may have influenced his writings throughout his career as a writer. Throughout his days on earth, he was tormented by pain, both physical and emotional, and rejection. His parents died when he was only two years old only a few days apart and his time in the military both had influence on his writing styles as well as his reoccurring theme of death. After his parent’s death, he and his siblings were split up between their parent’s friends and taken as their adoptive children. His separation from his family caused him much mental pain as he felt he was all alone. His adoptive father John Allan was not a loving father to Poe. He did not respond to Poe’s letter when he was in the military and did not keep in touch with him at all. All of these events could have affected the way Poe wrote and his stories with dark and sinister plots. The unusual life of Edgar Allan Poe began in Boston Massachusetts January 19, 1809.
