Aims The aims of a business are long-term visions or goals of the business. Aims provide a focus for the organisation and unite the organisation. Also the aims provide a focus for all business activity. The aims also link to the purpose of the organisation. There are many different aims for a business. The first aim I am going to talk about profit maximisation. The aim, profit maximisation, means that the organisation makes as much money as possible. Also more profit means more money can be invested back into the business. The more profit the organisation makes the more money the owners and shareholders get back. The second aim is survival. The aim, survival means that the organisation wants to stay trading and not go broke. If trading is difficult some businesses aim to just survive for the year. Survival can be a stepping-stone to better times. Also companies that have reported losses like HMV, Woolworths and Northern Rock aim for survival because they cant aim for profit, as it is not realistic.
